How to Reduce the mobile bills and speed up your smart phone.

By Robert Bridge

Hi my name is Robert Bridge and I am a graduate of media a scholar of language and like many these days a big fan of hand held gadgets and games. I live in London and spend a lot of time going into London shops, speaking to shop workers, finding bargains to reduce costs and because of this I almost feel like a millionaire, what with all the money I am saving an all, but it hasn't been easy and yes there has been times when I have paid tooth and nail for things I did not necessarily have to pay for.

The phone is a funny thing, especially the smart phones we see everyone answering. Without it we would be lost, the mere thought of loosing touch with the World Wide Web in the palm of our hands is a worrying thought is it not?

A couple of years ago it would have been a hard enough task explaining to someone how to text message with predictive text, so imagine how difficult its going to be to constantly explain the recent updates on there mobile computer devices. In this 'Intel' I will do my best and share my experience of the Android HTC. Having helped a few of my friends with similar phones, from Nokia Android clone versions to other HTC type phones I will go through and explain as we navigate through the wonderful abundance of places to go inside your phone and troubleshoot the various problems that pop up.

The four things every mobile phone user should know (2011).

1. You should know your telecommunication devices number store this in your head and if anyone asks give it to them, maybe print it on a little card. This is a good tip if your in business or wishing to network with like minded people.

2. Your phone has a battery and if you know how long your battery lasts it will save you having to go all the way home to charge it up again. If you have read the instructions when you purchased the phone you will realise there are a few things missing from the instructions or if you don't, you soon will. Don't worry though I am here to help.

3. Smart phones get the name because they are very clever. It takes a very clever person to figure out all the little things your smart phones contract will do to help you spend time money and effort on figuring out all the capabilities. Will cover more this in part three and I am quite sure another Intel will be in order to cover this topic more without going over the recommended amount of words it takes to explain everything.

4. Phones fit neatly in the pocket, most phones are not water proof so be careful when putting it in your top pocket (especially if you are carrying a bucket of water around with you, and especially if you live on a boat like I used to do. Chargers are now adapting to this, Nokia are a great example, they now have a charger where the two prongs that go into the wall socket move. This is great for stuffing inside your trouser pockets, but be careful with the wires, you do not want a spare chargers wires to get damaged. Equally you do not want to get any sand in your device. This goes without saying if you like going to the beach, like to have your phone with you and use this as an excuse not to go swimming or surfing. I mean basically the phone gets dust in it now and again whatever you do so its always an idea to flip it open and brush away any dust with a cloth or just give it a blow, blow away all the dust. Also check the Simm is in position correctly and if you have a memory check this has not popped up out of place.

Having problems dialling friends or finding friends numbers?

If this is you perhaps you have too many numbers in your contacts list or you may have a repetition of numbers from friends who constantly either buy new phones all the time or loose there phones and call you up with new numbers.

Here is what I suggest especially for Google smart phone users. For those not using smart phones this should not be too much of a problem.

As you scroll through you can find alphabetically the name or surname of the person you are looking for by either entering into the search the first couple of letters, or if you have a smart phone; you have now the option of scrolling the Teflon screen to the right of your contacts list and then press the letter you think that person might be.

If they give you a new number I recommend you go into the contact you already have and add the new number on top of the number you already have. This is great if you have a picture of them and also when you search the phone should show the number in without having to do an alphabetical search.

Having problems with you battery?

Keep a charger with you on long journey's. Check your computer phone is not still on the internet or Maps because this will eat into the battery, especially if you have been watching Youtube video's. Clear the cache regularly, if you are having problems with finding the cache settings let me know and I will explain this further in another post.

Having problems with the speed it takes to turn on and off your phone?

This is the part where I remind you about the cache, also its time to delete those old text messages. In smart phones this may also be the threads. One thread from my last partner had of 700 messages to and throe. It speeded up my phone when I did and it felt a very therapeutic thing to do. Another thing that slows down phones is when other applications are still open, you can go into your settings and empty the cache, be mindful of applications that you have uploaded from the market place that constantly update this not only eats into the battery, it also uses bandwidth. If you go over your contracts allocated bandwidth amount you will be charged what they call a nominal fee, add the additional tax they charge on these extra's and you have a monthly bill that is enough to reduce anyone to tears.

In conclusion if you are trying to save money the mobile phone is the first place you should look. Mastering your smart phone will help you get things done without to much distraction. Good luck and leave a comment below or share somewhere if you like it. Thank you for reading and leave a comment below so I can get back in touch too.
